I'd say if you have Mandate of Heaven, slide Ming in at slot 2, and move everyone else down. England wouldn't be a bad choice for number 5 either. So my opinion on what the list should be:Īs I said, I haven't played Japan, so I really don't know if they should be there, I'm just taking your word for it. Maybe I'll give it a try my next campaign.Īnd if you have the new DLC, Ming should be on the list, but if not, it's fine to leave them off. I haven't actually played in Japan, but no one seems to be arguing that point.
If you're not too familiar with EU4, I could see you getting steamrolled as Muscovy. They are a strong nation, but mostly because of their potential rather than their early game power. I don't think Muscovy deserves to be on the list. If France rivals you, Austria is fine as well. If you're not planning to expand in Europe, you can ally France, and you're set. So yeah, harder to o a WC with Portugal than the Ottomans, but I would recommend Portugal before the Ottomans to a new player.Ĭastile is in a similar position, because you can basically colonize without danger. It's tempting to leave them off the list, because they aren't strong and showy like some of the others. You can easily form a fairly strong colonial empire both in the New World, Africa, and even Asia. You are basically guaranteed an alliance with Castile, and you don't border anyone else dangerous. I would argue that the number one easiest nation in the game is Portugal. One thing we should keep in mind is that easiest is not synonymous with strongest.
